Our Commitment to Accessibility
Marva Johnson | Set Apart Counselling is committed to providing an accessible environment for all individuals, including clients, website visitors, and employees. We strive to comply with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level AA standards.
This accessibility statement outlines our efforts to ensure that our services and digital presence are accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities.
Website Accessibility
Our website is designed and developed to meet WCAG 2.0 Level AA standards. Specifically, we have implemented the following accessibility features:

- Text alternatives for non-text content (alt text for images)
- Keyboard navigation for all interactive elements
- Clear heading structure and readable link text
- Sufficient color contrast for text and interface components

Office Accessibility
Our physical office space is designed to accommodate individuals with various accessibility needs:

Communication Supports
We are committed to communicating with people with disabilities in ways that take into account their disability. Communication supports may include:
- Plain language in all written communications
- Email correspondence for individuals who are deaf, deafened, or hard of hearing
- Note-taking during sessions for clients who may benefit from this support
- Visual aids and written materials to supplement verbal information

Support Persons and Service Animals
We welcome support persons accompanying clients with disabilities. There is no additional fee for a support person to attend sessions.
Service animals are also welcome in all areas of our premises that are open to the public.
Temporary Disruptions
In the event of a planned or unexpected disruption in our facilities or services, we will notify clients promptly. The notice will include information about the reason for the disruption, its anticipated duration, and a description of alternative facilities or services, if available.

We welcome feedback on the accessibility of our services and website. Your comments help us identify barriers and improve our accessibility efforts.

All feedback will be reviewed, and we will respond to any concerns or suggestions within 10 business days.
Staff Training
All staff and contractors receive training on:
- The requirements of the AODA and the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation
- How to interact and communicate with people with various types of disabilities
- How to interact with people who use assistive devices or require the assistance of a service animal or support person
- What to do if a person with a disability is having difficulty accessing our services
Continuous Improvement
We are committed to continually improving the accessibility of our services and website. We regularly review our accessibility practices, consult with people with disabilities, and make necessary adjustments to enhance accessibility.
Multi-Year Accessibility Plan
We maintain a multi-year accessibility plan that outlines our strategy to prevent and remove barriers to accessibility. This plan is reviewed and updated at least once every five years.
