Services
Psychotherapy, pastoral & spiritual counselling, general counselling, and coaching
Four Ways I Can Support You
My practice offers four distinct kinds of support. They draw on different training and are governed by different professional frameworks, so it is important to be clear about which is which — and you are welcome to ask if you are unsure which fits your situation.
Psychotherapy
As a Registered Psychotherapist (RP), CRPO #6883
Clinical treatment for anxiety, depression, burnout, trauma, relationships, and life transitions. This is regulated health care under Ontario’s Psychotherapy Act.
Pastoral & Spiritual Counselling
As an ordained Minister and Deaconess
Faith-rooted support for spiritual questions, grief, calling, and walking through difficulty. Offered from a ministry role — not psychotherapy.
General Counselling
Supportive, non-clinical conversation
A confidential space to think something through — a decision, a relationship, a hard season — without a clinical focus on treating a mental health condition.
Coaching
Forward-focused and goal-oriented
Practical, structured work on goals, habits, leadership, and next steps. Coaching is not psychotherapy and is not health care.
Understanding the difference
Psychotherapy is a controlled act under Ontario’s Psychotherapy Act, 2007. When I provide psychotherapy I am acting as a Registered Psychotherapist, accountable to the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), and those sessions are held to the College’s standards for records, consent, and confidentiality. Psychotherapy is available only to clients physically located in Ontario at the time of the session.
Pastoral counselling, spiritual counselling, general counselling, and coaching are not psychotherapy and are not regulated health care. They are not a substitute for psychotherapy, medical care, or crisis services, and they are not typically eligible for insurance reimbursement under psychotherapy benefits.
We will agree together on which kind of support you are receiving before we begin, and we can revisit that at any point. If what you are looking for would be better served by psychotherapy — or by a service I do not offer — I will tell you and help you find the right fit.
If you are in immediate distress, call or text 9-8-8 (Suicide Crisis Helpline, available 24/7 across Canada) or call 9-1-1. None of these services are crisis or emergency services.
Psychotherapy
Provided as a Registered Psychotherapist (RP), CRPO #6883 — regulated health care, available to clients in Ontario. Sessions are $170 (individual, 50 min) or $210 (couples and family, 80 min), HST-exempt.

Pastoral & Spiritual Counselling
Offered in my role as an ordained Minister and Deaconess — this is ministry, not psychotherapy, and is not regulated health care.
Pastoral Counselling
Pastoral counselling offers support from within a faith framework. It draws on my training in ministry — a Master of Divinity in Clinical Counselling, a Bachelor of Christian Counselling, and ordination as a Minister and as a Deaconess — rather than on my clinical registration.
People often come for pastoral counselling when facing:
- Grief and loss, including questions of meaning and faith
- A sense of calling, purpose, or vocational direction
- Spiritual dryness, doubt, or disconnection
- Moral or ethical decisions that feel weighty
- Marriage, family, and relationship concerns approached from faith
- Forgiveness, reconciliation, and letting go of resentment
- Walking through a hard season and wanting prayerful support
What these conversations look like:
- Unhurried listening, without a clinical agenda
- Scripture, prayer, and reflection — always at your invitation
- Encouragement grounded in your own faith tradition
- Practical next steps you choose for yourself
Pastoral counselling is not psychotherapy, is not a mental health treatment, and does not create a clinical record. If our conversations suggest that psychotherapy or medical care would serve you better, I will say so directly.
Spiritual Counselling
Spiritual counselling makes room for the questions that sit underneath everything else — who you are, what you are for, and how you make sense of what has happened to you. It is client-led: you set the direction, and your beliefs and background are respected throughout.
This may be a fit if you are:
- Working out what you believe after a period of change or loss
- Wanting to grow in your spiritual walk with support
- Reconciling faith with a painful experience
- Seeking discernment about a significant decision
- Looking for a spiritually grounded companion rather than a clinician
People of all beliefs and backgrounds are welcome. Faith is never imposed, and you are free to set its place in our conversations — including none at all.
Like pastoral counselling, spiritual counselling is not psychotherapy and is not regulated health care. If you would prefer faith to be integrated into clinical treatment instead, that is available within psychotherapy — see my approach.
General Counselling
Supportive, non-clinical conversation — not psychotherapy and not regulated health care.
Supportive Counselling
Not everyone who needs to talk something through is looking for treatment. General counselling is a confidential, structured conversation with someone experienced — useful when life is hard but you are not seeking clinical care for a mental health condition.
This service suits people who want:
- A thinking partner for a difficult decision
- Support through a stressful stretch at work or home
- Help untangling a relationship or family situation
- Space to process a recent change or disappointment
- Someone outside their circle to talk to honestly
- Practical problem-solving and perspective
What you can expect:
- Warm, direct, judgement-free conversation
- Reflective listening and honest feedback
- Clarifying what matters most to you
- Concrete strategies you can use right away
General counselling does not diagnose or treat mental health conditions. If what you are describing would be better addressed through psychotherapy, I will tell you and we can move to that instead — or I can refer you elsewhere.
Coaching
Forward-focused, goal-oriented work — not psychotherapy, not health care, and not restricted to Ontario.
Personal & Professional Coaching
Coaching starts from where you want to go rather than from what is wrong. Where therapy often looks back to understand and heal, coaching looks forward: setting a goal, building the habits that get you there, and staying accountable to it.
Coaching may be a good fit if you want to:
- Set and actually follow through on personal or professional goals
- Grow as a leader, manager, or business owner
- Build habits, routines, and time boundaries that hold
- Navigate a career change or next step with a plan
- Strengthen confidence, communication, and decision-making
- Balance demanding roles without losing yourself in them
- Move from knowing what to do to consistently doing it
How coaching works:
- We name a specific, measurable goal at the outset
- Sessions focus on action, obstacles, and accountability
- You leave each session with agreed next steps
- Progress is reviewed openly and the plan adjusted
Coaching is available to clients anywhere. Because coaching is not psychotherapy and not a regulated health service, it is not limited to clients located in Ontario. Sessions are held by secure video or phone.
Coaching is not therapy, counselling, or mental health treatment, and it is not covered by insurance psychotherapy benefits. If coaching surfaces something that needs clinical attention, I will name that and we can discuss psychotherapy (Ontario clients) or a referral.
Fees for pastoral, spiritual, general counselling, and coaching
Rates for these services differ from psychotherapy fees and depend on format and length. Please get in touch for current rates and availability. Psychotherapy fees are listed above and on the FAQ page.
